around and about us

Our imediate neighbours are Leigh, Tyldesley, Hindley and Westhoughton. A little further out is Wigan, Warrington, Bolton and St Helens. Further still is Liverpool, Blackpool, Preston, Blackburn, Oldham, Rochdale and Manchester.

Another thousand towns, cities and villages fill in the gaps. The northwest is fairly densely populated in some parts and in other parts full of nothing but beautiful scenery.

We are an area with great sporting traditions and have some of the best football clubs. Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers, Liverpool, Everton, Manchester Utd, Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic to name a smattering of them.

Fortunately, the rest of our country also has great football clubs too (climbing out of the hole I started digging). It's just one of the things that makes the northwest a great part of our great country.

Surrounded by natural beauty.

We are also very well placed here in the north west for beautiful natural scenery. Approximately a ninety minutes drive to the west will have you in Snowdonia - a similar time driving north east will see you wandering through the magnificent scenery of the Yorkshire Dales with the North York Moors beyond  - a little south of east and you are in the Peak District - then of course to the north and you are in the uncomparable views and panoramas of the Lake District National Park in Cumberland and Westmorland - to the south and you're on the Cheshire plains and into the Welsh borders and the rolling Shropshire countryside. See this map.
